Try a different shampoo, and stop putting your dirty hands on your scalp while working in the mechanic shop, etc.

If you cannot stop, start wearing some kind of tight fitting head cover, like a 'doo rag.'

Wash your face and hands when you get home, use hot water to rinse a wash cloth, and clean off whatever has settled into your hair from the workplace.

In some cases it can be your girl friend's hands or stuff she uses...What is the best shampoo for an itchy scalp?
Tee tree shampoo works for me if I start getting an itchy or flaky scalp. It also smells good and it tingles. Great as a body wash too.
Go to a beauty shop or beauty supply store and get Clear-T therapeutic scalp shampoo. My husband suffered for over 30 years with itchy scalp, sometimes flaky and sometimes the flakes would build up so fast it actually built up to a thick coat. He tried all the over the counter shampoos for dandruf, the special oc ones like Scalpacin (sorry about the spelling, am on special pain med), and those kind. He even went to a dermatologist and used several prescription shampoos and treatments from the doctor. A couple of them helped a little, but none totally worked. Then he tried the Clear-T by Dermagen and not one thing at all remains. No itching. No flakes, no build up. And he only washes his hair every three days, and it still works that great. It is the only thing that ever helped/cured his problem.
